Jakarta – Emil Dardak once again received support from the Democratic Party to run in the 2024 East Java Gubernatorial Election (Pilgub Jatim). However, Emil is rumored to be filling a ministerial position in the Cabinet of the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka Government for the 2024-2029 period.

Emil said that it is the President’s right to determine the cabinet for the future government.
“It seems that the cabinet is not an election by nominating oneself, it is the full prerogative of the current and future President. So, I don’t think it’s my competence to answer,” said Emil at the Democratic Party’s headquarters on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

On the other hand, Emil admitted that he is currently supported by the Democratic Party in the East Java Gubernatorial Election contest, accompanying Khofifah Indar Parawansa as the prospective Vice Governor candidate in November 2024.

“It happens that the coalition that supports Mrs. Khofifah and me also includes the Gerindra Party, which is led by Mr. Prabowo, the elected President. So I think it’s already been answered by itself,” said Emil.
Thus, he will focus on serving and leading the people of East Java for the next five years.
“The focus of my dedication efforts and the trust from my Chairman, Mr. AHY, is to once again assist Mrs. Khofifah, continue her efforts and achievements in improving the welfare and dedicating herself to the people of East Java,” he said.
The Democratic Party previously officially supported Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Emil Dardak in the 2024 East Java Regional Election. The decree handover was conducted at the Democratic Party’s headquarters in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. The decree was handed over directly by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
AHY explained, Khofifah is a female figure who is not only known in East Java but also nationally known.
“She can be said to be the most complete female politician in Indonesia because she has entered all sectors, both in parliament and government,” said AHY.
AHY said that Khofifah has also successfully led and resolved various issues in East Java, from reducing poverty to inequality.
“Of course, this is the reason why the people of East Java still love and support Mrs. Khofifah for the next 5 years,” he explained.
On the same occasion, Khofifah expressed her gratitude for being entrusted by the Democratic Party to run in the East Java Regional Election.
“Together with Mas Emil Elistianto Dardak, for the umpteenth time, I express my thanks for all the support, assistance, and companionship,” she said.
