Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto gave a speech to 906 cadet officers of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) in Jakarta on Friday (12/7), urging them to become strong and outstanding soldiers and police officers.
He emphasized the importance of protecting the entire Indonesian nation and all of Indonesia’s territories, as stated in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution. Prabowo stressed that the primary goal is protection, followed by advancing welfare and prosperity.
Prabowo raised the question of the significance of development if the nation cannot ensure the safety and protection of its citizens. He highlighted the crucial role of the TNI and Polri in safeguarding the nation.
The Defense Minister underscored the essential role of the TNI and Polri in upholding the national goal of having a strong army and police force for the survival of the nation. He reminded the cadets that they bear the responsibility of defending the homeland when the time comes.
Prabowo also mentioned a study by Harvard University, which identified three key elements present in civilizations that have lasted over 300 years: a superior military, superior intelligence (police), and superior bureaucracy (civil service).
The day before, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin provided guidance to the TNI-Polri cadet officers of 2024, urging them to be responsive and proactive in addressing public complaints at Balai Sudirman.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials including the Commander of the TNI, the Chief of the National Police, and the Chiefs of Staff of the military branches.
