Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, emphasizes the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. Speaking at a discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in collaboration with Gempita, Isyana stressed the need for parents to keep learning and familiarize themselves with online applications. She highlighted how children often learn faster than their parents, and parents need to catch up with them. Isyana pointed out that children are attracted to “cheap dopamine” available through social media scrolling and online gaming, leading to addiction. She emphasized the importance of sports, sunlight, and outdoor activities in combating this addiction. Veronica Tan, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, introduced the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program aimed at providing safe, inclusive spaces for empowerment, learning, play, and creativity for women, children, and communities. Through RBI, children are encouraged to engage in traditional games, sports, and creative activities to steer clear of gadget addiction.
