VIVA – Toyota Indonesia seems to have some considerations before launching Toyota Avanza Hybrid or Veloz Hybrid as the most affordable environmentally friendly product.
Although the signal of the emergence of Toyota Veloz Hybrid has been a hot topic since last year, but until now PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) still tightly closed the information of their new car.
Rumors of the emergence of Avanza Hybrid arose after the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid was born from its trusted Low MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) platform which is partly produced by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM).
The latest news regarding the car with two sources of energy spread in the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, precisely in Ministerial Regulation Number 8 of 2024, it is written that there is a new code registered by Toyota.
In standard conditions, Toyota Avanza has the code W101RE-LMDFJ 1.3 E, W101RE-LBSFJ 1.5 CVT, W101RE-LMMFJ 1.5 G MT, and for Veloz W101RE- LBVFJ 1.5 Q CVT.
From the list of Low MPV cars, there is a new code, namely W101RE-LBVFJ 1.5 Q HV CVT with NJKB (Motor Vehicle Sale Value) of Rp264 million, and W101RE-LBVFJ 1.5 Q HV CVT TSS of Rp284 million.
The indication of the letters HV behind its name is suspected to be an abbreviation for Hybrid Vehicle, so there is speculation that these two codes are a signal of the emergence of Toyota Veloz Hybrid in Indonesia.
Yaris Cross HEV has the same platform as Avanza-Veloz, or Daihatsu Xenia. It relies on a 1,500cc gasoline engine with a dynamo, or an electric motor as an assistant to drive the front wheels.
As known, the battery in Yaris Cross Hybrid is already assembled by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Lithium-ion type 29 kW with a weight of 20 kilograms. Formed from 2 modules, each module has 24 cells, power per cell is 3.6 volts.
This means that if combined it becomes 175.2 volts per pack, and the durability of the electrical power storage component is claimed to be able to withstand temperatures from minus 10 degrees Celsius to up to 50 degrees Celsius.
When asked about the emergence of the base price of Avanza-Veloz Hybrid, Marketing Director of PT TAM, Anton Jimmi Suwandy spoke up, but still reluctant to comment much. According to company rules, he cannot explain the latest products.
“I can’t comment in detail on future products yet,” said Anton briefly to Viva Otomotif, quoted on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
